Dr. Huey has been working in behavioral and mental health with a focus on trauma since 1994. Being adopted himself, Dr. Huey was always drawn to the large population of other adoptees in treatment. He ultimately became convinced that this population needed specialty care and in November of 2006, Dr. Huey launched Calo, a residential treatment center in Missouri. Calo ultimately became the platform for Embark Behavioral Health. After selling his interest in Calo in 2015, Dr. Huey retired for some years and then joined Havenwood Academy as CEO. Together with the Havenwood team he has guided the expansion of the platform to include all the Hope Group subsidiaries.
Janie has worked for Havenwood since its founding. Janie has always served in an administrative role and is now Havenwood’s Director of Human Resources and Licensing. In these roles, Janie is responsible for overseeing all of Havenwood’s employees as well as making sure that Havenwood stays in compliance with all laws, rules and regulations of Division of Licensing as well as a number of accrediting agencies such as the Joint Commission.
Janie attended Southern Utah University where she received a degree in criminal justice with a legal studies minor. After graduating from SUU, she started working as a paralegal in a prominent law firm where, among other things, she handled the firm’s adoptions. After 12 years, Janie left that position and joined the Havenwood team.
Janie has 2 active teen boys and loves to spend time with her family camping and playing board games. When Janie is not with her family you will find her reading, doing puzzles or planning for her family’s future.
Josh has been with Havenwood Academy / The Hope since 2014 and currently serves as COO & CFO. He holds a B.A. in Accounting and an MBA. Under his leadership, Havenwood has expanded its impact, developed new campuses, and built a reputation for operational excellence and trauma-informed care.
Josh is known for blending deep financial discipline with a heart for service. He’s led Havenwood to national recognition for its innovative programming and is a favorite presenter at conventions like NATSAP, where he shares insights on leadership, financial management in behavioral healthcare, and systems thinking.
Outside of work, Josh is an endurance athlete who has run a sub-5-minute mile every year since 8th grade and has recently completed the Boston, Berlin, and New York marathons. He’s a father of two energetic boys and has been married for over 12 years. He enjoys long runs, witty sitcoms like The Office, and building businesses that do things the right way.
Blaine Hofeling is an experienced attorney and the founder of Havenwood Academy and The HOPE Group, where he devotes his legal, administrative, and business expertise to increasing access to trauma-informed care and creating meaningful pathways to healing for young people from underserved and disadvantaged backgrounds. His work reflects a deep personal commitment and mission to ensure that those most in need are not left without hope or help.
Dr. Jack Hinman (He/Him) is the Founder and Executive Director of Engage Transitions. He has been providing mental health and administrative services to individuals and families in a variety of treatment settings including hospitals, wilderness therapy programs, residential treatment centers and community mental health for over 20 years.
Madi Harper, LCMHC, is a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Emerge Treatment, a holistic mental health center in Draper, Utah, dedicated to supporting adult women through trauma recovery, anxiety, and life transitions. She earned her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Westminster College in 2018 and has over a decade of experience across various levels of care, including outpatient, day treatment, inpatient, and residential settings. She also has a Mental Health Officer Certification as well as a State Crisis Worker Certification. Madi specializes in trauma and OCD and is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and exposure-based therapies. Madi’s approach is rooted in creating safe, empowering spaces for women to reconnect with themselves, build resilience, and reclaim their lives. She is passionate about blending clinical expertise with compassionate care to help clients move from surviving to thriving.
Charlie Falatea is a seasoned mental health professional and advocate for youth empowerment. Since beginning his career in 2002, he has organized, developed, and led programs designed to support young people through their most challenging moments. His work is rooted in a deep belief in the power of connection, healing relationships, and compassionate guidance.
What sets Charlie apart is his genuine passion for working directly with youth, families, and his team. Whether he’s mentoring a teenager, training staff, or building new program initiatives, he strives to create an environment where growth and healing can thrive. His leadership reflects a commitment to helping others find peace, direction, and resilience.
Beyond his professional life, Charlie is an active community leader. He has coached high school football for nearly 20 years and currently serves as the Defensive Coordinator at West High School in Salt Lake City. He also founded the Se Soia youth basketball program, offering opportunities for children from diverse backgrounds to learn, play, and build confidence. A devoted father of eight and guided by his faith, Charlie lives by the principle of “lifting where he stands,” continually working to improve the lives of the youth he serves.
